‘The sight of the glory of the Lord was like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.
So Moses went into the midst of the cloud and went up into the mountain.
And Moses was on the mountain forty days and forty nights.’
Exodus 24:17-18
Before we step further into the glory realm of God where God dwells with us permanently, we must first encounter the glory as a consuming fire. Moses had to soak in the glory of consuming fire before he received the revelation.
Exodus 24:1 marked the sixth ascent. Moses was summoned again to climb Mt Sinai. This time he was to bring Aaron, Aaron’s sons Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel with him. The next morning, Moses “built an altar at the foot of the mountain, and twelve pillars according to the twelve tribes of Israel” (Exodus 24:4). God then commanded Moses to continue up Sinai to receive the stone tablets that God had prepared (Exodus 24:12). Moses took Joshua with him and sent the others down to the foot of Sinai. While Joshua waited, Moses continued the ascent. For six days, a cloud covered the top of the mountain. On the seventh day, God called Moses to enter the cloud and approach the top of the mountain. Moses stayed there 40 days and 40 nights (Exodus 24:18).
