If Christ is Not Risen

The resurrection of Christ is the foundation of our faith and hope, but suppose Jesus had not risen from the dead? In 1 Corinthians 15:12-19, Paul describes six tragic things if Jesus did not rise from the dead. (1) Preaching the gospel is a waste of time, because it has no purpose. (2) Having faith in Jesus is foolish, because someone who is dead can do nothing for you. (3) The disciples are deliberate liars, because they have given false testimony concerning the resurrection of Jesus. (4) Sin is still sovereign, because the penalty for sin has not been paid. (5) Death has dominion, because there is no life after death. (6) The future is futile, because there is no hope. But Christ is risen, and preaching is profitable, faith has a solid basis, the witness of the disciples can be believed, sin is overcome, death is defeated, and the future is glorious!
